According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) annual report “Renewable Capacity Statistics 2022”, 81% of new power plants worldwide are renewable.
The main results of the report for the end of 2021 show that
The installed capacity of Renewable Energy Sources reached 3,064 GW. From those
Hydroelectric power accounted for the largest share of the world, with a capacity of 1,230 GW.
Photovoltaics represented 849 GW and wind turbines 825 GW. Bioenergy units amount to 143 GW, geothermal units to 16 GW, and 524 MW to marine energy.
The increase in the installed capacity of RES in 2021 was 9.1%
The new units in 2021 were 52% photovoltaic
