Enphase’s technology uses microinverters for each solar panel, instead of a conventional string inverter. This means that each solar panel operates independently of the others. These micro-inverters offer a 25-year warranty, so it’s a highly reliable system, saving you time and money for the lifetime of the PV system.

At the same time, Enphase’s system is the ideal choice for cases where there will be shading in the solar panels, as shading losses are dramatically reduced. In a conventional inverter, the PV panels are assembled in groups (strings – Strings), where the solar panels are connected in series with each other. The result is that shading on one solar panel also affects the performance of the rest of its string. But in Enphase’s system, since each solar panel operates independently of the others, shading one solar panel does not affect the others.

According to the Enphase system, the malfunction or failure of one solar panel does not affect the rest, as in a conventional string inverter, where the failure of one PV panel leads to the failure of the entire string.

Finally, Enphase’s system is safer, as by closing the general switch of the solar system, the voltage in the PV panels immediately comes to a safe level (below 50 V), in contrast to conventional inverters, where even closing the main switch, the voltage in the PV panels remains high at the level of 500 – 800 V.

The Enphase Microinverter design is the safest choice for solar power. Unlike central inverter systems, Enphase systems never contain high voltage direct current (DC) power, eliminating the risk of fires due to DC failure.
